It’s hard to
believe that we are planning our
5th
Mission Trip for this summer! St. Mary’s Summer Mission Trip will take
off to St. Petersburg, FL the week of June 22nd
- 27th.
This year will be our second ‘Week of Hope’ trip, which is more
community service oriented. We will be doing work with children,
elderly and homebound. We’ll help struggling churches and homeowners do
some light construction, perhaps work with vacation Bible school, or
making a playground safe for use again.
Mission Trips are
a chance to give of ourselves to those in need, while having a great
time getting to know each other AND getting to know teenagers from
across the country. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work, but it really is a
LOT of fun! AND, it’s a spiritual experience. The week is a way to
explore issues of faith at a comfortable level, appropriate for our
participants.
Mission Trip is
open to teens in middle and high school. To attend, you must be
entering the 7th
grade or above in the fall of 2008.
To hold your place in this year’s trip,
you must read and complete the Mission Trip registration form and return
it to the church office with your nonrefundable check for $100. Spaces
are limited, and registration will be on a first-paid/registered basis.
The first informational meeting and registration
for the
trip will be immediately following the 9:00 services on Sunday, February
17, 2008 in the PLC. This is for both parents and participants. If you
want to know more about the trip, please plan to attend this meeting!
If you have any
questions before the meeting, please feel to give me (Dot Galfond) a
call at the church office at 287-3244, or email me at
dot@stmarys-stuart.org. I’ll have plenty of info for you at the
meeting on the 17th,
and please bring your calendars, as we will set up a few future
meetings.
