Week of January 16, 2011
Our children learned about the Disciples of Jesus this week. They learned the hard choices they were faced with when they decided to follow Jesus. What a wonderful lesson for all of us, as we are faced with tough decisions all the time! Remember the disciples and keep your footsteps in Jesus path!
Our memory verses for the week were:
Kindergarten and up - The names of the 12 apostles: Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James (the son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Peter, Andrew, James, John, Simon, Judas
Preschool - "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19
Please work with your children on this memorization!
Week of January 23, 2011
Sunday School this week will be replaced with a special children's program during our annual meeting. It will be lead by Mr. Brett and Ms. Ashley and include lots of singing and a special craft we will use to welcome our new rector, Fr. Todd Cederberg. A snack will also be provided. We hope to see all of our wonderful children there!
Week(s) of January 30 and February 5, 2011
For the next 2 weeks, our Sunday School children will focus on the Beatitudes and what each means. We will learn how to live our life using these guidelines. Remember that each week your child comes home with a "memorization" verse for the week. If they remember their verse the following week, they earn stars on their chart!
Your child also comes home each week with a great "Home paper." This paper has the lesson learned, the memorization, and some wonderful activities to do at home to enhance what we are learning. If you have any questions about Sunday School, please see Kelly.
Week of February 19, 2011
Our lesson for this week is learning about loving your enemies and forgiving those who have done them wrong. Our grade school aged children will be making cards and gifts for someone they needed to forgive. We hope our parents will help the children follow through with this activity by making sure the card or gift is given to it’s intended recipient. The memorization for this week is from the first book of Corinthians; “Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.”
Please practice this with your children and remind them to show God’s love through forgiveness.

Week of February 26, 2011
Our lesson this week is about worshiping only God. That is a hard lesson in this day and age of celebrities and sports heroes. We will learn to make sure we focus our energies on the One who gives back to us each day. Our memorization for this week is for our 2nd grade and up students is from Psalm 95: “Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Our 1st grade and younger students will memorize the commandment from Exodus; “You shall have no other God’s before me.” We send home a take home page each week from Sunday school explaining the lesson we learned and offering some family activities. Please take the time to read through it and reinforce what the children learned.
